Humanities Reflection
During this project I learned a lot. I felt like this project needed to make up for my last one which was not so good. I set some goals for my self and I think that helped me do better. If someone asked me a question about WW2 I could probably answer it. That was one of my goals. I also think that I worked hard on this project because my last one was too easy and I ended up not getting much out of it. During this project we made documentaries and we wrote essays. I have never been a strong essay writer and I don’t think that my essay was very good. The reason my essay wasn’t up to par was probably because I skipped around a lot when I was writing it. I would be working on a paragraph about Hitler then get bored of it and move on to a paragraph about the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. Then I would lose my train of thought and lead the paragraph into something that didn’t make sense. My group was pretty good. From the beginning I could tell that I needed to take a role as a leader. Not because Trevor and Tobin are lazy or bad partners, but because they tend to step back during projects. I tried to use the strategy that Anthony used with me during the Renaissance project last year. Do similar things but split up and work alone. It seemed to work pretty well then and I think it worked pretty well this time too. We did a few group check in’s to see how everyone was doing, and I was surprised that more than three weeks in Tobin hadn’t started his essay. I would have been stressing out if we were doing a project that is structured differently. I know that I learned very much during this project and I also know, that is the goal of the projects we do. I think that I did well but I need to consider different kinds of projects than: write essay, record documentary, done. Because I feel like I often do that because it is easy and I can do it quickly. In general I don’t like long term projects because I start to get bored of them. In the future I hope to be doing some shorter projects.
