Piet Mondrian was a Dutch Painter. He was born on March seventh of 1872 and died February 1, 1944 at age 71 of pneumonia. He was an impressionist then became an abstract artist. He created a non-representational art style called Neo-Plasticism. The paintings were grids on white backgrounds with primary colored squares.

From 1892 to 1897, he took painting classes at the Amsterdam Rijksacademie, a famous art school in the capital of the country. After art school he painted in Amsterdam. He painted rivers and trees which were very popular in that time. He also lived in England in 1900 and Spain from 1901 to 1903. He moved back to the Netherlands till 1940 when he came to the United States where he eventually died.
