Great Artist Reflection
This was my last Great Artists. I enjoyed it. Great Artists went very well this year. I was happy that we got to choose our own artist, just for ourselves because usually everybody wants to do different artists and then it would take us weeks just to decide who our artist was going to be. Also because I did the kind of art that I wanted and didn’t have to compromise. As far as working hard I did pretty well. I was pleased with how my paintings came out and I made a lot of them.
I like that we all chose our own artist. This way everybody got what they wanted and could produce art that appealed to them. There was no theme to the artist and they ranged from Joyce Watkins and Joseph Boyes. I liked seeing everybody’s art at the end and I liked it. Anthony’s art was especially interesting.
This year for my artist I chose Piet Mondrian because I like abstract art. I like precise but free form shapes. For Piet I made only squares and rectangles in mostly primary colors. There was a little bit of debate about what makes an artist a great artist. I never really had issues with this because Piet is pretty famous.
The week of Great Artist we had a day that was all Great Artists. I liked this day because for my art I needed to let things dry then paint another layer. We also prepped the room with black and white sheets and hung the banner. I hung the banner and I liked that.
I enjoyed my last Great Artist. I think that it is really cool that even in eighth grade we still get to take time to do some art work, then have a show.
